Join us for the FoxTrail Winter Running Series, a series of 5k or longer distance trail runs to brighten up those dreary winter days. Race 1 is based at Foxlake and is the perfect challenge to maintain your fitness over the winter or to get you started on your trail running journey.
Head out from our Foxlake HQ along woodland tracks and farm paths passing Belhaven Beach and taking in the John Muir Country Park. The courses will be fully waymarked and marshalled, so just enjoy the views!
Series prizes for this years events will be based on your best three placings. You must enter the full series or the 5k series to be eligible for prizes. Once you have entered the series take part in 3 events or more and you will gather points based on your placings. Meaning if you miss an event (or two) in the series you will still be eligible for prizes. NB: Solo event entries will not be eligible for the series prizes no matter how many races you complete.
The run will be entirely off-road, so be sure to wear your trail shoes. The route starts and finishes at Foxlake HQ and will see you running through woodland, farmlands and along parts of the John Muir Way.
There are no massive hills to negotiate on this event just the odd bump in the track. You will need to keep an eye out for tree roots and muddy patches as well as members of the public sharing the route. Please be courteous as these outdoor trails are there to be enjoyed by everyone.

Please make sure you arrive as early as possible for registration as volunteers on registration move out on to the course and so are unable to register you after the registration closing time.

Located in the heart of East Lothian 25 miles east of Edinburgh, Foxlake is nestled in beautiful woodland on the edge of the John Muir Way.
Race car-parking will be on site and will be allocated on a first come first served policy, using the main car park first and then the over-flow car park. Please follow the directions of marshals on arrival.
It is winter so bring something warm to wear for before and after the race. For the race wear run clothing suitable for the weather on the day and make sure you are in your trail shoes, on-road trainers are not advised.
We are not going up any massive hills on these events so you do not need to carry full hill kit. However, you may want to bring a waterproof jacket and extra layer just in case the weather gets chilly.
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted to run with you at these events.
Full route information will be published on our website around 2 weeks prior to the event. Some routes require land owner permission and cannot be recced prior to the event, we therefore do not publish the route in advance of the events.
