Join us for Aviemore Triathlon in the heart of the Cairngorms, with an open water swim in the cool, clear waters of Loch Morlich, followed by mountain biking and trail running through the spectacular Glenmore Forest.
The Long Hard Durty is our Standard distance race, combining a 1,000m open water swim, 18km of technical mountain biking and a 9km trail run. A tough course in a spectacular setting, this is a serious off-road challenge.
The Short Fast Durty is our Sprint distance race, combining a 500m open water swim, 12km mountain bike and 5km trail run. A fast, fun and achievable introduction to off-road triathlon, all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Cairngorms.
We appreciate your help in ensuring our events make minimal impact on the environment.

The loch has been chosen for its superb water quality and spectacular surroundings.
Short Fast Durty – 500m Open Water Swim (wetsuits compulsory). One lap, deep water start.
Long Hard Durty – 1000m Open Water Swim (wetsuits compulsory). Two laps, deep water start.
The Mountain Bike section mixes fast forest gravel tracks, some well-used and some a little rougher, with shorter, fun-dabby-dozy sections of twisty, narrow, rooty forest singletrack.
The course is mostly Blue standard or below, with a small amount of fun singletrack thrown in. A mountain bike is recommended, but if you’re confident on a gravel bike, you may be fine on one.
Things get a bit more serious, with some Red and Black graded sections featuring steeper, more technical terrain. A bit of mountain bike practice before race day will definitely make for a quicker and happier ride!
Mountain bikes, as defined by British Triathlon, and helmets are compulsory. Gravel bikes are neither suitable nor permitted.

The Run will be on a mix of forest trails, singletrack, rough stuff, and includes a section of open hill running (Long Hard Durty only) with breath-taking views.

Water Temperatures vary depending on the weather conditions pre-event but the loch temperature is likely to be around 13-14oC
We would recommend a mountain bike for this event. The short course is maybe (depending on your skills level) suitable for cross bikes and gravel bike however the long course definitely requires a proper mountain bike
