SATURDAY 26TH APRIL 2025: 12 noon

Run and cycle around the picturesque Bowhill Estate in the Scottish Borders.

2024/25 will see a return to the full Bowhill Duathlon series, starting with the short course event to get you warmed up😄.

FAQ: How long are the courses?

We get this question a lot!.

The ‘Short’ race typically has a winning time of approx. 40-45 mins (split approx. 50/50 between bike and run).

The ‘Medium’ race has a winning time of approx. 60mins (again, approx. 50/50 between bike and run).

The Long Course has a winning time of approx. 80mins (again approx. 50/50 bike and run).

We deliberately do not talk about distances as this is a pretty meaningless measure off-road. Other factors (surface, mud, steepness, single/doubletrack trails etc.) are all more influential. So, if you’re a speedy racing snake, you’ll be finishing in around 40/60/80mins. If you’re back of the pack, that will generally be 80/120/160mins. Everyone else is somewhere in between.

Join us for the Complete Duathlon Series

Kick off your 2024/25 Winter racing in style with a series of 3 Duathlon Events taking place at the picturesque Bowhill Estate near Selkirk in the Scottish Borders.  Will you be Lord of the Manor or down in the dirt!

These relaxed events are open to all and the format is usually Mountain Bike followed by Trail Run, sometimes the other way round or possibly Run-Bike-Run. What the races always are though is muddy, a bit hilly and a lot of fun. Trust us, Bowhill will CERTAINLY not disappoint in any of these departments!.

They’re very newcomer friendly and relaxed, but can also offer a stiff challenge if you’re wanting to try and go quick.  We welcome newbies to internationalists, triathletes, runners, bikers, and people who just like to do ‘stuff’. Come and have a go. These events will keep your racing/training motivation going over the long winter months.

Event Dates:

  • Race 1 – Short – 7th December 2024 **POSTPONED TO 26TH APRIL 2025**
  • Race 2 – Medium – 11th January 2025
  • Race 3 – Long – 15th March 2025

Here is how the series will work:

Enter the events as a series entry and you will be on the start list for each of the 3 events, you will then need to complete all 3 events to be eligible for a series win.

Prizes will be awarded in the Female and Open Categories for the following:

  • Overall Series Winner
  • Senior (up to Age 39)
  • Veteran (Age 40-49)
  • Super Veteran (Age 50-59)
  • Vintage (60+)

As there are two events in 2025, and only one in 2024, we will use your age as at the end of 2025 to determine your age category.

Course

This event is entirely off-road, so you will need an off road bike and trail shoes. The route gives great views of the Bowhill Estate taking in the labyrinth of paths and trails.

It’s a mixture of hard packed paths and muddy trails with challenging climbs and exhilarating descents.

Courses may be subject to change depending on weather conditions in the lead up to the event.

The Short Race will be in the format: Start-Run-T1-Bike-T2-Run (approx. 100m)-Finish

The course map will be posted here approximately 2 weeks prior to the event.
