Foxlake Triathlons

**As seen on TV!** – the 2019 race was live broadcast on the BBC Scotland Adventure Show.

ENTRIES CLOSED

8th & 9th July 2022

Friday 8th and Saturday 9th July 2022

Super Sprint Off-Road Triathlon. Fast and furious or slow and steady, it’s a race that will suit a wide range of abilities.

  • Day 1: Friday 8th July 2022
  • Day 2: Saturday 9th July 2022

The course will be the same on each day, but each day is a separate race. So, enter either (or both if that’s your thing!).

We’re aiming for completion times of around 30-60 minutes. Yep, that’s for the whole lot….. Swim, Bike and Run. Take it as fast or as easy as you like – on the rivet, or in the comfort zone. Either way, this should be fun.

  • Approx 200m Open Water Swim (don’t worry, the lake is shallow)
  • Approx 4km Mountain Bike (nothing wildy technical, but will be tricksy enough to catch you out if you hit it hard!)
  • Approx 2km Trail Run

Individual entries are open to those aged 15 or over by 31st December 2022.

Under 16’s

We are very happy to accept entries from U16 athletes (Minimum age 11), on the following conditions;

  • They are accompanied by an adult at all times on the course.  NOTE: Both the U16 and accompanying adult will each need to enter the race as normal (i.e. 2 x race entries). We will check at registration that the accompanying adult is with the child and has an entry.
  • We will not be running a junior age group for the purposes of prize giving, Juniors will be grouped with seniors for results purposes.

Camping

On-site basic tent camping and parking for small vans (Transit/T5 size and smaller, sorry, no caravans or big motorhomes) is possible on the Friday night at £5 per person – cash on the day please.

COVID19 – Please note: the race will be subject to appropriate Covid19 related social-distancing to help keep you and us safe. We will monitor Government guidance and apply it as current at the time of the event.

200m SWIM

Approx 200metres in the beautiful private freshwater Foxlake Adventures Wakeboard park. Open Water, deep water start. Wetsuits probably compulsory – bring them just in case.

The lake is clean and spring-fed. It’s shallow for most of the course, so is great for newbies and less confident swimmers – it’s designed to be a safe environment for watersports.

Approx 4km Bike

You’ll need a mountain bike, a gravel bike, a decent hybrid with knobbly tyres, or maybe even a cyclocross bike. Don’t worry if what you’ve got isn’t ‘fancy’ – you’ll be fine.  The course isn’t too technical and uses great tracks and trails in the surrounding woodlands. Helmets will be compulsory though, and you’ll need two working brakes.

Not far. Maybe 2km Run

You’ll be back on the winding trails in the forest, and also some of the lumpy grassy stuff surrounding the lake, before you emerge at the Finish Line.
