Entries Closed GIFT THIS

10th June 2023 10km @ 12.30pm, 1.00pm, 1.30pm, 2.00pm & 2.30pm

5km at 2.00pm

After meeting at Stewart Brewing’s incredible HQ in Loanhead, we will whisk you by coach to the historic Rosslyn Chapel (heavily featured in the Da Vinci Code book and film) to start your 10K or 5k trail run through the beautiful valley of the North Esk River.

You will pass tumbling waterfalls, still river pools, quiet natural forests and atmospheric ruins of the area’s surprising industrial past, before emerging at Stewart Brewing HQ to celebrate your achievement over a beer (the first one’s on us!).

Along with your beer you will also receive a medal in the form of a branded bottle opener and a custom event t-shirt (if you want it!).

Charity Partner

Bright Sparks – supporting young people in Midlothian

Money raised by the event will be donated to Stewart Brewing’s local charity partner, Bright Sparks.

Bright Sparks Play Groups is a charitable organisation which provides various groups and social activities for children with complex additional needs and their families within Midlothian, supporting children/young people from birth to 24 years.

We’re Having A Greener Hop Run

  • Feed station cups are our biggest source of waste so we’re stopping using them. There will be no cups at feed stations. Please bring your own reusable vessel or we’ll have some available in registration for a small fee. You will need to carry this with you and use it on the course if you wish to use the feed station.
  • T-shirts: some of you love them and some of you don’t. If you’re the latter, we’ll now give you the option to donate the cost of your event tee to our run charity, Bright Sparks. You can make this selection when you sign up by choosing No T-Shirt. Your entry cost will remain the same and we’ll donate the equivalent value to Bright Sparks.

We appreciate your help in ensuring our events make minimal impact on the environment.

The Route

You will register at Stewart Brewing in the Bilston Glen Industrial Estate, where we will then transport you (in waves) to the start line.

The run starts at the world-famous Rosslyn Chapel and takes you on a fully marshalled 10km(ish) or 5km (ish) course through Rosslyn Glen Country Park, the North Esk River and finally Bilston Wood before returning you to Stewart Brewing.

Need a training plan? Linda McLean Triathlon Coaching have kindly provided a 10 Week 10k Training Plan to get you ready for race day.

HQ and Parking

  • Parking available within Bilston Glen Ind Estate, 26a Dryden Rd, Loanhead EH20 9LZ

Please park considerately and do not block road junctions. Please do not park on either side of busy roads as this causes issues with the coaches taking you to the start line maneuvering out of the industrial estate

Hop Run

What Kind of Trainers are best?

This is off road running and can get very muddy in places, we would recommend trail shoes.

Can I bring my dog?

This event is not suitable for those who want to bring their dog along. There are loads of Canicross races we suggest you enter one of those instead.

What is the exact route?

Full route information will be published on our website around 2 weeks prior to the event. Some routes require land owner permission and cannot be recced prior to the event, we therefore do not publish the route in advance of the events.

Do I have to get on the bus to the start line?

You will need to register at Stewart Brewing on the morning of the event so please use the bus rather than your own transport to the start, that way we know where everyone is and no one misses their start time.

Will the Tap Room be Open?

The tap room will be open when you finish, serving delicious pizzas and award winning beer, 2 good reasons for a sprint finish!

Can I defer?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer deferrals, for information on refund options please see Terms & Conditions – Durty Events.

Can I have a refund?

For information on refund options please see Terms & Conditions – Durty Events.

Can I Change distance?
